Working with News Items

In FeedDemon, a news item is a single piece of news, such as a story about a current event or an entry in a personal weblog. News items are shown in the newspaper when you select a feed or folder, and they can also be displayed in the news item list by pressing F11.

Grouping News Items

The news item list defaults to being grouped by date, but you can choose another grouping through the "Group By" selection. If you'd prefer not to group news items, simply select (none) from this list.

Filtering News Items

Normally the news item list shows all items in a feed, but there may be times when you'd prefer to see only items containing a specific word. To do this, simply type a keyword into the filter bar above the news item list. Only news items containing that keyword in their title or description will be displayed. To clear the filter, either delete the keyword or select (none) from the filter bar dropdown.

Flagging News Items

Individual news items may be flagged by clicking the flag icon that appears to the right of the item. A flag is simply a way for you to mark a news item for later reference. If a feed contains a large number of news items, you may find it helpful to flag the most interesting news items so that they're visually separated from the rest of the items.
