Converting FeedDemon from NewsGator Sync to Google Reader Sync

NewsGator synchronization has been discontinued. If you're currently synching with NewsGator, the first time you run FeedDemon 3.0 you'll be asked whether to convert to Google Reader. There are three options here:

  1. Convert to Google Reader sync. Feeds synched with NewsGator will be added to Google Reader, and FeedDemon will sync with Google Reader from that point on.
  2. Don't sync with Google Reader. Your FeedDemon subscriptions will be left intact, but feeds that previously synched with NewsGator will no longer sync (they will, of course, still update).
  3. I already converted to Google Reader. If you converted another copy of FeedDemon to sync with Google Reader, then feeds synched with NewsGator will be removed from the copy of FeedDemon you're now using, and your existing Google Reader subscriptions will be imported into FeedDemon at startup.

Are authenticated feeds still supported?

FeedDemon will continue to support authenticated (password-protected) feeds. However, Google Reader doesn't currently support authenticated feeds, so if you have any authenticated feeds that are synched with NewsGator, they'll be moved to a non-synched folder when you convert to Google Reader.

What happened to my synched clippings?

If you have clippings which are synched with NewsGator, they'll continue to exist in FeedDemon, but they'll no longer sync after you convert to Google Reader. Prior to the end of NewsGator sync, we'll provide a way for you to redirect your synched clippings feeds.
