FeedDemon 1.0 RC1 Release Notes
October 17, 2003
Important:
Due to changes in this release, news items downloaded using earlier releases will be removed after installing RC1.
Your watches and news bins will be left intact, but all other channels will be cleared of previously downloaded news items.
Additions, Changes and Fixes
Additions
-
When adding a new channel by selecting an auto-discovery item or clicking a link to a newsfeed, the "New Channel" wizard
now enables adding a channel to a group other than the current one.
- Double-clicking a browser tab closes it
-
When a channel group is being updated, the "Update channel group" toolbutton changes to a cancel button.
-
Clicking an expandable group row in the news item grid now shows a newspaper containing that row's news items.
- "Hide channel bar when browser is maximized" added to Browsing page in FeedDemon's options.
Changes
- "Manage Groups" now uses Ctrl rather than Shift to copy a channel
-
Due to the number of feeds that "double encode" news item titles (ex: using
" rather than simply
"), FeedDemon now "double decodes" titles before displaying them.
-
"Welcome Wizard" includes language selection when shown at startup. Note that this pre-release only installs
the English language files.
Fixes
- Access violation at startup when run from a computer in the GMT time zone
- Spacebar navigation fails in watches and newsbins
-
When adding a channel from an existing OPML directory, clicking "Back" on the final step of the Add Channel dialog
goes to the wrong step.
- Newspaper cuts off newer items rather than older items when max number of items has been displayed
-
Newspapers may be sorted incorrectly if the current locale uses a character other than a period
as the decimal separator.
- Access violation after deleting a channel which is still updating
-
System tray icon resets to "normal" with every update, even if it should still reflect that news items were downloaded
during the previous update.
- "Group Update Frequency" dialog defaults to a minimum of five hours with most groups
- If Windows is shut down while FeedDemon is running, additions/changes to watches and newsbins aren't saved
Known Issues
- There is currently no help available for FeedDemon
